57 credit-hour program is comprised of coursework from the Department of Sport and Exercise Science and the School of Business . You will have the opportunity to select courses best suited to your individual interests. You may also pursue elective credits in other subject areas (e.g. – journalism – communication – psychology) to enhance your education and professional preparation.
The management of a sports team – whether it is professional or amateur – is a complex job that requires a unique set of skills rooted in both athletics and business . Graduates do not only work with sports teams – however. They may find themselves in the athletic department of a college or university – or even managing a large sports venue – such as a stadium or an arena.
A department that actively promotes diversity and social justice – Cortland Sport Management features special focuses on information technology andinternational sport. Located on Cortland’s campus are the Sport Media & Technology Learning Center and the national training centers for sport-specific information technology companies such as Dartfish.
Our program provides students with an outstanding education and a broad set of practical opportunities preparing them for careers in the sport industry.
